what does it take to get to know one's character?
how long does it take to get to know one's character?
do you even think it's a matter of time?
or one is perfect enough that can get to know the other's character, just by seeing some behaviors from them in a short period of time?
Salam saeed. Merci az commentet o soalat. This is what I think:
1) what does it take to get to know one's character? time
2) how long does it take to get to know one's character? People are always changing and developing, so I think the answer to this question would be it would take a lifetime to know someone’s character. It takes that long just to know oneself, let alone other people. Plus you can never decide that you know someone because then you will be stunting their development. What I mean is that if you assume you know what someone is like, then you expect them to be like that always and do not really allow them to change and grow.

First, because people are not perfect (perfect means complete and unchanging – and people are neither complete nor unchanging – only God is). Secondly I think no matter how much you know someone, they can still surprise you. people are not one-dimensional – there are so many different ways they feel and act and you can never know them all. third, one cannot ever even fully know himself, and if you don’t know yourself fully how can anyone else know you fully? finally, Aristotle has this notion of infinite potentials: he explains that human beings have infinite potentials – they can do ANYTHING there is to do. the reason people are different from one another (even though we all have the same basic human nature/soul) is that they choose to actualize or develop different potentials. Since we have infinite potentials, we are always developing different ones throughout our lives, so you can never know someone’s character fully and perfectly.
Basically, you can guess the direction a person’s character is going in. i.e. when you meet someone, you can gauge whether their character is developing in the direction of good or bad. And you can know part of their character over time, but never completely and never right away.
