amour-propre: a selfish love/ a self-reflexive love
* seeing yourself through the eyes of others
* comparing yourself to others, and competing with them
* source of inequality
* THE IMPOSITION OF AN ALIEN WILL ON YOUR WILL

"wow jean-jacque. what a cool concept."
"i know. it's brilliant."
"hmm, ok, anyways...so JJ, you're saying that this is a bad thing right? that we should try not to subject ourselves to amour-propre?"
"yes, exactly."
"but how? how can we stop seeing ourselves through the eyes of other?"
"you're asking the wrong question. first you must ask why amour-propre is developed. only then can you know how to stop."
"oh ok. then why is amour-propre developed?"
"because human desire begins to grow when it sees other possibilities. when he sees other people and the things they have, he all of a sudden wants those things, even though he got along just fine without them before. he desires more and more things and sees his self-worth in how much better than the other he is."
"so what is he supposed to do? stop seeing?"
"yes."
"like, go blind?"
"yes"
(pause)
"oh my God, put down the dagger. i didn't mean LITERALLY! i meant go blind figuratively - stop seeing others, as in stop comparing yourself to others. just see yourself. just concern yourself with your own potentials and abilities. don't think about being better or worse than others."
"that's really difficult to do."
"actually it is the natural thing to do. this is how human beings are naturally - only concerned with their own well-being. they have amour-de-soi in a state of nature, and only in society, in an unnatural state, do they develop amour-propre. so you're wrong - it is not, in fact, difficult. it is the easiest thing. we have just developed a habit for looking at ourselves through other people's eyes. but we musn't! we must live completely autonomously without caring in any way for what others think."
"wait a minute, didn't you have a fake hut made, so that when your fans came to visit you from all over europe, you could go stay in it to make it seem like you lived the 'natural' life, away from society; when in fact you lived in a castle with some duchess. that (presenting yourself in a whole different way than you are) seems to me like caring A LOT what other people think of you..."
"ok, this interview is over. get out of my hut..."

Humen were created to live together and grow together while they learn from each other.
To me, the goal of this life was not having perfect individuals, but having perfect societies.
Perfect individuals does not necessarily lead to perfect individuals.

p.s. I got stock at an abstract linear algebra problem now, and I need a perfect math society consisted of perfect mathematitions to help me out!

saeeeeed, merci az commentet, but i disagree. you had written: "the goal of this life was not having perfect individuals, but having perfect societies. Perfect individuals does not necessarily lead to perfect individuals [i'm assuming you meant to say 'society' here]."
but i don't think it is possible to have a perfect society before each individual has perfected his soul - until each individual is a good and complete human. just like in a family or in a relationship, that relationship can only function well if both individuals are complete humans, a society functions the same way. so i do think the goal of life is for each individual to perfect his soul, in order that we can have a perfect society.
but, since in this world humans can never be perfect, or fully human, the only place that can be a perfect society is heaven, where people are truly what they were created to be (human).
p.s. looool - how is the perfect math society coming along??

a)that's right, i meant to say 'society'.
b) Perfect society => Perfect individuals
but this doesn't mean that any group or set of perfect individuals can make a perfect society.
C) with regard to the example of a family, suppose each member of your family was seperated from the begening, and all of you were raised far from each other, and after 10 years , you were brought together, in order to live in a house. within that 10 years you all lived a perfect life, being away from each other, but you never experienced of struggling with each other's ideas, or learning from your parents' ideas, you never knew what other members of your family have in common, you didn't have things to share, it's hard for me to put it in words in english, vali mesle ine ke har dooneyee az yek no'e giah ro dar jahaye mokhtalefe donya be kari, va be amaleshoon biari, va taghviateshon koni. badesh az seed e har kodoom ro biari dar yek noghte, too yek garden, kenare ham bekari, chon ina adat nakardand ke dar kenare ham roshd konand, oon mahsooli ro ke individually midadand ro behet nakhahand dad.
d)makes sense??

p.s. lol I never found any of such society, but the exam went alright, i guess. ;)
